Creating Your First Case
Setting up your first case in KuhstomDiscovery is straightforward. Follow this step-by-step guide to get started.
Prerequisites
- Active user account with case creation permissions
- Understanding of your case requirements
- Documents ready for upload (optional)
Step 1: Access Case Creation
- Navigate to the Cases section from the main menu
- Click the "Create New Case" button
- You'll be directed to the case setup wizard
Step 2: Basic Case Information
Fill in the required case details:
Case Name
Choose a descriptive name that clearly identifies the case. Best practices:
- Include client name or case number
- Use consistent naming convention
- Avoid special characters
Case Description
Provide a brief summary of the case including:
- Case type (litigation, investigation, compliance)
- Key parties involved
- Expected timeline
Case Settings
Configure the following options:
- Privacy Level: Public, Private, or Restricted
- Retention Policy: Set document retention period
- Review Workflow: Choose from predefined templates
Step 3: Team Assignment
Add team members who will work on this case:
- Search for users by name or email
- Assign appropriate roles (Reviewer, Admin, Observer)
- Set permissions for each team member
Step 4: Document Upload (Optional)
You can upload documents during case creation or later:
- Supported formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, EMAIL
- Maximum file size: 100MB per file
- Batch upload supported for multiple files
Step 5: AI Configuration
Configure AI classification settings:
- Enable/disable automatic classification
- Select classification models
- Set confidence thresholds
Step 6: Review and Create
- Review all settings and configurations
- Click "Create Case" to finalize
- You'll be redirected to the case dashboard
